Reading Club, The Writing Space
& workshops with leading writers

Reading sundays

Free and informal reading club for all, held at Lewes Waterstones on the first Sunday of every month. Settle down with coffee and cake as we read aloud work from a selection of authors from all over the world, both classic and emerging, with lively discussion in between. You receive a photocopy of each story to take home with you too. No need to book or read in advance.
Please note: No session in February 2017

We run regular writing workshops for all levels. These intensive half-day sessions cover a range of areas and subjects, and are often taught by a leading guest writer. We take an experiential approach - for example, in our popular Food Writing workshop, we eat a variety of foods and flavours to put food at the centre of plot and character development. Our workshops always sell out, so join our mailing list to get priority booking.

Heartbroken? Melancholy? Listless? Over-worked? We have a remedy for every ailment and malaise. Contact us with your troubles and woes and we'll send you a short story to help.

the writing space

Warm and welcoming weekly drop-in sessions for writers of all levels in Lewes. Explore a range of writing prompts and exercises at your own pace, or find a corner to work on your own project without distraction, followed by group work sharing.
Tuesdays 6-8pm, House of Friendship, Lewes
Thursdays 10-11.30am, Friends Meeting House, Lewes
(a child and baby friendly session)

A good old-fashioned pub crawl with a difference. Drinking games, forfeits, silly writing exercises and plenty of alcohol-related short stories to enjoy, as well as our Drunken Writer Quiz (do you know which writer drank their own perfume?). New literature, new friends, and a cultured way to get a hangover. Our Short Story Pub Crawls take place in Lewes, Brighton and London. Sign up to our mailing list for upcoming dates.
