Sunday morning readings, regular writing groups,
workshops with leading writers,
& the short fiction prescription.

Reading sundays

Free and informal reading club for all, held at Lewes Waterstones on the first Sunday of every month. Settle down with coffee and cake as we read aloud work from a selection of authors from all over the world, both classic and emerging, with lively discussion in between. You receive a photocopy of each story to take home with you too. No need to book or read in advance.
Next event: Sunday 13 November 10am-12pm

short story pub crawl

A good old-fashioned pub crawl with a difference, held in Lewes, Brighton and London. You'll be given a pseudonym and face mask of a famously inebriated author, there are quotes to shout out, short stories to read with drinking games, and plenty of silly writing exercises. We stop for pub grub halfway to hold our challenging Drunken Writer Quiz (do you know which writer drank their own perfume?). Score points, receive penalties, suffer forfeits, and convince strangers to help you write a one-word story as we go. New literature, new friends, and a cultured way to get
a hangover. Sign up to our mailing list for upcoming dates.

Writing workshops

We run regular writing workshops for all levels. These intensive half-day sessions cover a range of areas and subjects, and are often taught by a leading guest writer. We take an experiential approach - for example, in our popular Food Writing workshop, we eat a variety of foods and flavours to put food at the centre of plot and character development. Our workshops always sell out, so join our mailing list to get priority booking.
